I walked maybe 2 miles east on US-2 before finding a nice place just off the highway to pitch the tent. I had a good night sleep even though the weather at night in this northern region is starting to get pretty cold. The next morning I walked a couple miles farther east on US-2 before finding a spot in the shade to setup and start flying a sign to travel towards Michigan. A few cars went buy and slowed but didn’t stop while sitting for about 30 minutes. I was digging through my pocket to grab a quick smoke when one of the cars that passed me up had turned around and stopped on the other side of the highway. I was surprised that someone actually stopped to be honest. I hadn’t been feeling much in the mood to hitchhike the past few days and that usually seems to be projected outwards. When I feel tired and off it seems that I get less rides. I imagine its because I seem less happy on the side of the road, possibly even grumpy. None the less I got a ride from this guy named Tom that is an electrician working on a multi-million dollar resort project on Priest Lake in northern Idaho. While riding down the road and bull shitting, he offered a place to stay for the night at this new project. I accepted to check out this awesome place. We talked till about midnight or so coming up with a design for the new website he wants me to build for him.
Now its morning and he had to get to work, so he dropped me off at a local coffee shop, gave me a $100 to have for the days spending cash and told me to wait for him to get done with work. He is checking with his boss about getting me some work here for the week. Either way, Tom also owns a bunch of vacation rentals in Oaxaca Mexico. He’ll be heading south for the winter in 2 weeks or so and has offered me a ride down with him and a job down there while I get my business stuff going online. I’ve been really excited about this! I’m not making solid plans at the moment but I’m definitely showing interest. His plans are to get a restaraunt/bar that like Senor Frogs but in Oaxaca Puerto Escondido started building this winter. Thats the reason for wanting a website online. So I’ll continue to hang out here in northern Idaho until I figure out exactly I’m gonna do. I’ll build his website for him regardless, but I’ll only stay in this area if his boss hires me on for the week. And if he hires me on I’ll more than likely be heading down through Mexico with him and spending some time there to build up more money!
