Letters from Senators
Before I left Acapulco I sent out a couple letters to Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin of Michigan. Letting them know my concerns with a cap and trade going through. When clearly in the past a cap and trade type system has never worked towards the goal. When in fact all it does is put money in someones pocket from tax payers. Before I run out of time at this cafe I wanted to put a couple things into light that they replied back with via email.
The first thing they both said is laid out below:
Stabenow says “While I respect your views, I also recognize the growing scientific consensus about climate change.”
Levin says “There is an overwhelming consensus among scientists that global warming is occurring and that human activity is causing it.”
While this sounds nice but is absolutely false. There is no overwhelming consensus on man made climate change. Matter of fact all raw data charts show that the temperature levels in the past 10 years have leveled off and have started to decline back to normal temps. While I believe we need to become greener by stop using fosil fuels and create new technology to clean up the planet that we have destroyed, I don’t believe we have to pay someone for credits to do it. There is no reason why someone should get rich off of what we know has to be done. Treaties and agreements are fine to implement but not by charging people to do it.
Debbie Stabenow goes on to basically say she would like to have investments into creating jobs in the US for new technologies. I completely agree with that! I think 100% of the tax dollars acquired in the US should be used in the US.
On the other end Carl Levin says “Over time, the impacts of climate change also could threaten our national security.”
I don’t know why politicians think using scare tactics to try and get bills passed is a good idea. All this shows is they are trying to intimidate us into acccepting their agendas.
Mr Levin also goes on saying “I believe the best way to address global warming is through an effective and enforceable international agreement…”
Ok a couple things here. One, why is it that the US government thinks it has the right to spend our tax money interfering in other nations lives. Two, since we are the ones that started most of this. Why don’t we lead by example instead of forcing other nations that haven’t even developed yet to take our policies into their own. Instead of dumping hundreds of billions of dollars into a cap and trade. Why not invest hundreds of billions of dollars in the United States to develop renewable energy technologies and manufacturing facilities for solar panels, windmills, and scores of other green industries that could bring hundreds of thousands of new jobs to the US? I don’t see why all this spending has to go on outside the US, when we could really use it. Its obvoius they have their own agenda for the money in the US. But who cares right? The fed just prints more money and yay! Well if that worked we wouldn’t be in the position we are in now. Don’t you think if we did more spending at home instead of elsewhere in the world, we would be better off in the long run? The United States has hundreds of military bases outside CONUS. Do we need to spend billions of dollars on bases all over the world? Sure its good to have a few strategic bases around but we don’t need them in all these countries. At one point the United States was the leading manufacturing country in the world. Its time to bring that back and help people locally instead of these other countries. Thanks for reading.

Eric.
