Hermosillo

Made it to Hermosillo Senoa.  Plan on staying here a couple days before I start to hitch north across the border.  I have no idea how long that bus trip took but I think it was between 30 and 40 hours.  I read most of a book that another hitchhiker from the states gave me when he visited my place in Acapulco.  I should be in the states by mid week then I’ll be planning my route from there or just taking the first ride I get wherever they are going.  If anyone has some work they need help with anywhere in the southern states let me know.  I’m up for some work!  Plus I need to get some cold weather gear!  I looked at temps quick online here and I see there has been a  cold spell all the way down to northern Mexico.  Will try to update online once I’m back in the states if the prices for internet cafe’s are cheap enough.  Otherwise I’ll be making phone calls to friends and family once I cross.  peace

Got everything cleared up here with the police.  Got my money back from the thieves and I’m heading out tonight.  Heading for Hermosillo where I will then be hitching north to the border.   Ran out of skype minutes for calling international so sorry I can’t return the phone calls until I get across the border.  I do have a US phone card so I can call then.  peace talk soon

Just a quick video as it will be one of my lasts.  I will be leaving Mexico shortly and will be selling off all my stuff to buy warm weather gear once I cross the border.  I’ll post a couple more vids this weekend before I take off as a lasting centament of my time spent here in Acapulco.  I’d like to thank all of those that have followed my journey over the last year and half!  I more than likely won’t be publishing much on the next set of my journey as operating costs for my websites has overtaken the amount of advertising and donations that I receive.  I will be returning to the United States to look for work and to prepare for my next journey which should be next summer.  I have become very lazy in my travels and feel the need to do a regular job for a few months to regain my momentum.  Once again thank you all very much and thank all that I have met and that have given me rides!  I look forward to bringing more stories to you in the next chapter of my life.  peace

How I Feel About The State Of Things Today

November 16th, 2009 by Eric No comments »

After a few short careers in television and as technician for a fortune 500 company I have figured out that there is more to life than 9 to 5.  The men and women that started the United States of America had more in mind when traveling for months across a large ocean.  The spirit that these people had, seems to have been lost over the centuries.  I have always had a strong desire for travel.  Unfortunately travel in this age is typically very expensive.  I travel using a method that is similar to that of those that came before us.  Its not easy by any means.  Life on the road can be very difficult from time to time.  But with all that aside I have now fallen in love with this type of travel.  The rewards and experiences are unmatched by any tourist type destination travel.  The people I meet, the places I see, and the knowledge that I have acquired in these travels is most important to me.

I do have harsh opinions of life in the United States.  I believe that what has become of the U.S. is what our forefathers fought against so long ago.  Why does freedom have to come at such a price?  I’m not talking about sacrifice.  I’m talking about money.  I agree with capitilism to a certain degree.  But it in recent years as most of us have seen it can get out of hand.  The greed that has taken over the government and corperate america has got to the point in which we may not recover for many years to come if at all.  I spend a lot of time doing research to fulfill my own curiosities.  One thing that concerns me the most is the supression of new technology to prevent corporate losses.   We are set in this position now where huge companies and international bankers seem to censor our every move.  A simple example.  In the early 1900′s Thomas Edison had a 4,000lb electric vehicle that could travel 100 miles on a charge at 25mph.  I know this doesn’t seem very fast but this was before we even had airplanes.  He made a very efficeint zinc iron batteries.  And here we are now after airplanes, radio, tv, computers, space travel, and many other amazing technologies, and big auto manufacturers are just now starting to put out lighter weight cars with only a little more mile range.  Granted we drive a lot faster now, but don’t you think we would have technology by now to be able to drive from N.Y. City to San Fransisco none stop?  Well many people have made such claims of being able to do these things but have been silenced by death or by buy out.  There is promise now with the changes in the world and the advancement of internet technology.  It has become easy for us to share our ideas and inventions with each other.  But at the same time those companies that can make these new inventions a reality for all of us will not develope them due to the fact that once purchased they can’t make anymore money off of us.  money money money.  How many people do you think committed suicide because of financial problems in 2009?  How many do you think did in 1809?  In 1809 if a death involved money it was more likely due to the theft of it.  Not because they didn’t have it.  So much for being free when you have to buy your freedom with cold hard worthless cash.  Before WWI do you think terrorists had the idea to come and kill all the americans?  It wasn’t until WWI and the input from the recently added Federal Reserve Act that we became so interested in fighting everyone elses wars.  Rich people found away that could make them richer.  Since then we’ve been in countless wars and since The Korean War we’ve been in some sort of war to this date.  Spending billions upon billions of dollars.  Before we got into this horrible cycle we were a nation of free minded open thinkers with nothing but the desire to make our lives better.  We may still have the same desire as before but now with limitations, restrictions, laws and rules that prevent us from truley being free unless we pay the right people.  This is of course my opinion and it all may be a complete fabrication of my imagination.  But this is truley how I see things and how I feel about whats going on.  I probably could continue going on  for pages and pages.  But I’ve never been the type of person that agreed with people preaching to try and convince someone to change their opinions.  The power of the internet is great and a lot can be learned from it.  I don’t believe in conspiracy theories.  What I do believe in is facts and putting those facts together to come up with your own conclusion and opinion.  You constantly hear, “Think outside the box”.  The question is why don’t a majority of us do that?  We all have that ability and should use it.  Thanks for taking time to read this.  I’m very interested in your comments so please leave one below.  peace
