I walked just outside of town and started flying my “Brookings” sign. Figuring I’d get that far at least for the day. I got my first ride within 30 minutes of trying to get a ride. That ride got me to Klamath California. About 20 miles south of Crescent City. There I stopped in the gas station got a treat for Manny and started walking up the highway. I just got on the highway when I pitbull puppy came running across the highway and got hit by a logging truck. It was real gross and made me feel very upset. I pulled the dogs body off the highway. It didn’t have a collar, so there wasn’t much I could do to contact the owner. When I started walking down the highway after that dog got hit I didn’t feel like hitching at all. So I just kept walking. I didn’t make it far down the road when a guy and this woman pulled over and asked if I was going north. I was surprised how quick I got a ride without hitching. This ride took me all the way to downtown Seattle. Ted and Mary where great people to talk with and I enjoyed the ride greatly. When I got to Seattle I looked for a hostel with no luck in the area I was in. I went to a local bar that allowed me to bring Manny inside. Chatted with the patrons there till closing then caught a cab outside the city limits. I crashed in the tall grass on side the highway then walked here to McDonalds to write this entry. I have my “Spokane” sign made and will try hitching there today. Talk again soon. Peace

Out of San Fran, North!
September 28th, 2009After 3 weeks here visiting with my dad and getting work done on the computer its time to hit the road again. Saturday morning I will be getting a ride north of San Fransisco and hitching up the 101 towards Seattle. From what I’ve been told, the 101 is some of the most scenic drives in the U.S.. I’m looking forward to going through the redwoods and camping out a long the way. Manny and I both have put on some weight while here so I’ll need to do some serious hiking to get us both back in shape! I plan on staying in the northern half of the country till fall. I’ll travel towards the east coast on US 2 and float down over by the Carolinas for awhile before looping back towards the west. Since I didn’t make it to New Orleans this spring I’m gonna try to get down there for a bit. Thats a rough plan for now, but things can change very quickly. Next post will be from a bush somewhere on the way! Take care. Peace
